Eyes Wide Open

This week I tried and succeeded in actually walking around the area. For the past few months my life consisted of GSE and my apartment and that was pretty much it. A friend asked me how I was enjoying Philadelphia and I felt bad that I could not give her a real answer. So I decided to change all that and hit the town! Food trucks seem to be one of the major food groups out here so a classmate and I decided that each week we would take a different one and test the food out. Now I LOVE street meat so I had no problem with this plan lol. I just did not know how many options there were going to be, from American to Indian to Greek the choices are endless. Soo since I had food covered I needed something to do to work off all those calories. I decided to walk around and sight see. There are a bunch of parks and museums that I found. Also there are lounges and coffee shops too. I LOVE COFFEE!! My next step is to find some different day and night activities. Until next week... :)

Where Do We Go From Here....

A few days ago a friend of mine asked me why I chose UPENN. It dawned on me that a lot of people go through different checklists and things to figure out what school they want to attend. It took me a little while to even figure out where I wanted to be. So here are my reasons and tips for choosing UPENN.

  • Location. Location was the first thing I really looked at when trying to choose a Masters Degree. I did my undergrad in North Carolina and though I loved the area I wanted something different. I am originally from New Jersey and while I wanted to be near to home I did NOT want to be back at home.
  • Program. After choosing certain states and cities where I wanted to be I then started to look at the Programs that the schools provided. My brain kind of works all over the place so I really needed to choose programs that made me feel as though I was using both parts of my brain. Some schools I found were in a good location but the design of the programs was not something that I could fit myself into.
  • Price. The cost of a Masters Degree was the next thing I looked at. Not only the cost of tuition but the cost of living in the area. Student loans are not something I want to be having to deal with forever lol.
  • FOOD... I LOVE FOOD!! I wanted to make sure where ever I went had a lot of good food options around. I did not want to be stuck with just McDonalds and Burger King if I did not want to feel like cooking. I like to try foods from all over the world so a city where I could do that was really important.
Overall I am very happy with the decision I made to come to UPENN. It took a little while and A LOT of Pro/Con list and table charts to figure out where I wanted to be. I also visited a few of the schools just to see if I felt a bit of comfortability. Hope this helps guys. Until next time.... :)
